SDI Computer Nitrox Diver $125 – $199

SDI Computer Nitrox Course

Few advances in the dive industry have had a more profound impact on sport divers over the past two decades than the widespread availability of Enriched Air Nitrox and Nitrox programmable dive computers.

Nitrox has enabled tens of thousands of divers to enjoy longer bottom times than their air diving buddies. Used correctly, nitrox lessens a divers risk of decompression sickness compared to doing a similar dive on air. So much so that one might say Nitrox is the perfect breathing gas for the sport diving community.

In addition, programmable Nitrox dive computers have greatly simplified the process of planning and tracking essential additional concerns of Nitrox diving – like CNS toxicity and maximum operating depth (MOD) – while providing all of the other features associated with dive computers.

The SDI Computer Nitrox course is a great next step after the Open Water Diver certification and is structured in an easy to understand manner by making use of a Nitrox programmable computer.

Nitrox as a breathing gas has a lot of benefits for both new and experienced divers.

Nitrox refers to any gas mixture composed (excluding trace gases) of nitrogen and oxygen this includes normal air which is approximately 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen and 1% other gases. However, in scuba diving, nitrox is normally differentiated and handled differently from air. The most common use of nitrox mixtures containing higher than normal levels of oxygen is in scuba, where the reduced percentage of nitrogen is advantageous in reducing nitrogen uptake in the body’s tissues and so extending the possible dive time, and/or reducing the risk of decompression sickness (also known as the bends).

A standard Air Fill in your cylinder contains filtered air, a Nitrox fill in your cylinder has added oxygen and the percentage of oxygen can be changed to suit the style of diving you are doing.

The course will cover the use of Nitrox mixtures from 22 to 40 percent oxygen.

The benefits of using Nitrox include:
* Increased safety margins
* Reduced post dive fatigue
* Extended no-decompression times
